Virat Kohli was born on 5th November 1988 in Delhi. He did his schooling at Vishal Bharti and Savier Convent in Delhi. He started to learn cricket at the age of nine and joined West Delhi Cricket Academy in 1998. His cricket debut was playing for Delhi Under-15 team in 2002 for Polly Umrigar Trophy. By his impressive batting skills he became captain of his team for Polly Umrigar Trophy in 2003-2004. He subsequently played for Vijay Merchant Trophy 2003–04, Vijay Merchant Trophy 2004–05.
His international debut was in 2006 India Under-19 tour of England wherein he averaged 105 in three ODI series. He gained recognition after captaining 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup which emerged victorious. His international cricket career started in 2008 through Sri Lankan tour and Champions Trophy in Pakistan. He proved his worth when he was chosen over Raina for 2011 World Cup and become a first Indian to make century on his World Cup debut. For the first time he became captain of Indian team in 2013 for West Indies Triangular Series when M.S Dhoni was injured.
