Short biography
Vinay Pathak was born on 12th July 1968 in Dhanbad, Jharkhand state. He attended Vikas Vidyalaya,Ranchi and Allahabad University. He went to United States to pursue higher studies and attended State University of New York at Stony Brook. He started his acting career appearing in small supporting roles, he gained little attention after appearing in Khosla Ka Ghosla in 2006. His career took big break after appearing in commercial and critical hit Bheja Fry in 2007.
Vinay Pathak subsequently appeared in numerous commercially successful films like Bheja Fry 2 co-starring Kay Kay Menon, Rukhsaar Rehman, Suresh Menon and Minisha Lamba, Chalo Dilli co-starring Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Jha, My Name Is Khan co-starring Shahrukh Khan, Jimmy Shergill, Kajol and Zarina Wahab, Quick Gun Murugun co-starring Rajendra Prasad, Sandhya Mridul, Nassar, Ranvir Shorey and Raju Sundaram, Oh, My God co-starring Saurabh Shukla and Divya Dutta, Dasvidaniya, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Mithya, Johnny Gaddaar, among other films.
