Bollywood veteran director Ram Gopal Varma was born on 7th April 1962 in Hyderabad city, India. He attended V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College, in Vijayawada and completed his Engineering degree in civils. He had great interest for films from his school days itself and used to bunk classes to watch movies. After completion of his education he worked as a site engineer for Hotel Oberoi in Hyderabad. But after few years he left his job and started his career as an assistant director to noted directors like Anurag Kashyap, Krishna Vamsi etc.
He made his movie debut with Telugu movie Siva in 1989 starring Akkineni Nagarjuna and Amala Akkineni, the film was a huge blockbuster hit and considered as one among the greatest films of India. He subsequently directed commercial hits like Kshana Kshanam starring Venkatesh and Sridevi, Rangeela starring Aamir Khan, Jackie Shroff and Urmila Matondkar, Satya starring J.D. Chakravarthy, Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpai and Paresh Rawal, Sarkar Raj starring Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, etc movies among others. During his decades spanned career he was honoured with several awards including one National Film Awards and numerous Nandi and Filmfare awards.
