Short biography

Saif Ali Khan was born on 16th Aug 1970 in New Delhi to Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore. Khan attended Lawrence School in India, later Lockers Park School and Winchester College in England. Saif made his Bollywood film debut with Parampara in 1992 opposite Aamir Khan, Vinod Khanna, Sunil Dutt, Ashwini Bhave and Ramya Krishna, the film failed to reach the expectations. His first commercial hit was Main Khiladi Tu Anari in 1994 opposite Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty. Saif Ali Khan was charged with killing blackbucks during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1998 along with his co-stars Salman Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam. He won National Film Award for his role in Hum Tum in 2004. He was honored with Padma Shri award by Indian Govt in 2010.

Saif Ali Khan’s father Mansoor Ali Khan was a captain of Indian cricket team. Mansoor Ali Khan played in 46 cricket matches for India, he scored 2,793 runs in total with an average of 34.91. Mansoor Ali Khan was captain of Indian team in 40 of 46 matches. Mansoor Ali Khan died of acute lung infection on 22nd Sep 2011. Mansoor married Sharmila Tagore on 27th Dec 1967. She was born to Gitindranath Tagore, deputy manager of East India Company on 8th Dec 1944 in Hyderabad. Sharmila made her film debut with Apur Sansar a Bengali film in 1959. She converted to Islam before marrying Mansoor Ali Khan, she changed her name to Begum Ayesha Sultana. The couple gave birth to three children named Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan.

Saif Ali Khan has two sisters named Saba Ali Khan, a jewellery designer born in 1976 and Soha Ali Khan, an actress born in 1978. Soha Ali Khan was born on 4th Oct 1978 in New Delhi. She studied at The British School, Balliol College and London School of Economics and Political Science. She made her Bollywood film debut with Dil Maange More in 2004 opposite Shahid Kapoor and Ayesha Takia.

Saif Ali Khan married Amrita Singh in Oct 1991 and gave birth to a daughter named Sara Ali Khan born in 1993 and a son named Ibrahim Ali Khan born in 2001. The couple broke up in 2004 and the children live with Amrita Singh. Saif Ali Khan dated Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor since 2007 and married on 16th Oct 2012. Kareena Kapoor was born on 21st Sep 1980 in Mumbai to Randhir Kapoor and Babita. Her sister Karisma Kapoor is also an actress.
