Sonakshi’s father Shatrughan Sinha is a well known Bollywood legend. He was born on 15th July 1946 in Patna, India to Bhubaneswari Prasad Sinha and Shyama Devi Sinha. He is the youngest child of his parents. He is also known as Shotgun and Shatru. He is a politician now and was a Rajya Sabha member twice and was a Cabinet Minister. He was later elected as Member of Parliament for 15th Lok Sabha in 2009. He is presently associated with Bharatiya Janata Party. He recently suffered from respiratory problems and was admitted to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, Andheri. Due to recurring problems heart he was hospitalised again and underwent heart surgery. He donated a sum of fifty lakhs rupees to the rain victims in Uttarakhand.

Her mother Poonam Sinha is a Bollywood actress and appeared in several Hindi movies. She made her film debut with Jigri Dost in 1969 and her screen name was Komal. She was crowned Miss Young India in 1968. As of now she is producing the Bollywood films. Her mother is Sonakshi’s skin advisor and recommends natural remedies for her.

Luv Sinha:
Sonakshi has twin elder brothers namely Luv Sinha & Kush Sinha. Luv Sinha is a Bollywood actor born on 5th June 1983 in Patna and made his film debut with Sadiyaan in 2010. After Dabangg Salman Khan became friend of Luv Sinha. Salman Khan even invited him to join his gym and assisted him with his tips. Luv was angry with media persons for criticising Sonakshi for her weight gain.
Kush Sinha:
Kush Sinha entered Bollywood industry through Dabangg as an assistant director to Abhinav Kashyap. He later worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Saawariya.
