Short biography
Anu Prabhakar was born on 9th November 1980 in Bangalore, Karnataka. She attended Nirmala Rani High School, Malleshwaram, Bangalore. Since her mother was an actress it was easy for her to enter the film land. She made her acting debut as a child artist with Chapala Chennigaraya in 1990 and appeared in Shanti Kranti alongside Ravichandran and Anant Nag in 1991. Her debut film in adult lead role was with Hrudaya Hrudaya in the year 1999 opposite hattrick hero Shivarajkumar. She worked alongside Vishnuvardhan for several films including successful hits like Soorappa, Hrudayavantha, Sahukaara etc. Anu Prabhakar was honored with ‘State Government best actress award 2000–01’ for her performance in Shaapa starring Ramesh Aravind, K. S. Ashwath, B. C. Patil and Avinash. In 2003 she acted in critically acclaimed film Preethi Prema Pranaya opposite Ananth Nag and Bharathi Vishnuvardhan. She later worked for blockbuster hit No 73, Shanthi Nivasa in 2007 opposite Sudeep, Deepa, Master Hirannayya, Srinivasa Murthy and Ramesh Bhat. In 2008 she worked for Mussanje Maathu alongside Sudeep, Ramya and Ramesh Bhat. Apart from films she worked for TV shows like Bale Bangara, Home Minister, Manju Musukida Haadi, Nooru Dinagalu etc.

Anu Prabhakar married Krishna Kumar on 1st March 2002. He is the son of Kannada actress Jayanthi. Unfortunately due to irreconcilable differences the couple broke up in January 2014.
