Ajay Devgn won Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his performance. Phool Aur Kaante was inspired from Malayalam film Parampara released in 1990.
2. Jigar – 1992
It was directed by Farogue Siddique and co-starred Karisma Kapoor, Arjun, Ishrat Ali and Salim Khan. Film was a blockbuster hit of the year. Jigar was inspired by Hollywood movie Bloodsport released in 1988. Story deals with the life of Ajay Devgan learning martial arts to avenge his sister’s rape by a wrestler.
